Angel Heart - Callous Creations

Angel Heart is a unique hollow form pendant. It has a silver front and back, and brass walls. It has been lovingly beaten to give texture and has a patina added to create a sense of history. Two reclaimed vintage doll hands, made from the classic synthetic materials all of us know from childhood, reach out, welcoming. Once loved, then discarded, now reinvented.

I find these dolls more creepy in their original form, and I find the concept of children cuddling the rigid pink babies slightly disconcerting.

The piece takes inspiration from traditional symbols of flying hearts that can be found in many cultures. It can be worn either way round, so it either receives or protects. There is a protective mantra inside this talisman, as with all my hollow forms.

The space inside this prayer box allows me to imbibe some power into it as I work.
The dolls hands bring an innocence and sense of mischief.
